Boycott The 2018 Russian World Cup

Boycott The 2018 Russian World Cup

As everyone in the West knows, Moscow and Russia's leader, President Vladimir Putin has been up to no good, AGAIN. So, is it about time England and the rest of the world join in solidarity and boycott this year's World Cup?

Ten days ago former Russian agent Sergei Skripal (66) and his daughter Yulia (33) were minding their own business in Salisbury and before they could say 'Vladivostok' both had been poisoned by a nerve agent and now find themselves in their hospital death beds.

Russia has also been identified as meddling in the US elections. They have also been accused in interfering in the UK Europe referendum vote. And then there were last year's Netherlands and Germany General Elections which, by all accounts the Ruskies helped the far right parties, which was totally against the grain, gain seats in their various parliament houses.

I could go on but let's cut to the chase here. Russia and their leaders are intent in causing chaos. And to be honest, they are doing exactly what it says on the tin.

Numerous world leaders and VIP's are coming out in solidarity for the UK's position concerning Salisbury's poisoning.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said it appeared the 'really egregious act... clearly came from Russia' and there should be 'serious consequences.'

He added: 'We agree that those responsible - both those who committed the crime and those who ordered it - must face appropriately serious consequences.

'We stand in solidarity with our allies in the United Kingdom and will continue to coordinate closely our responses.'

I don't want to make this a party political broadcast and so I'll stop, except to say...

I really think FIFA should reconsider their position and in doing so make a statement about whether they have given consideration about allowing member countries to boycott the World Cup, without possible retribution from the governing body.

Do FIFA have the balls?

Do they hellers like? They will act as if nothing has happened. BUT, if it all goes pear shaped later in the year I for one can say, I told you so!

Does my article make any sense?

We all know that it won't happen but it would certainly be an effective weapon to show the like of Russia that crime doesn't pay.
