Expect Mob-Rule & Mayhem At 2018 Russia World Cup

Expect Mob-Rule & Mayhem At 2018 Russia World Cup

Why would you risk your safety and wellbeing in a country that struggles to control its own people and is all but a police state?

Just think about it - you've spent thousands of pounds on flights, accommodation and matchday tickets and then you find yourself face-to-face with Ultras, mob-rule, mayhem and police brutality. Alternatively, you can spend a couple of quid on a few beers while watching the games in the safety of your own home?

England have all but qualified for next year's World Cup finals in Russia but if recent history has anything to go by then the team and fans will be flying home either after the group stages, or shortly afterwards. And so one of the questions has to be, is it worth it?

Mob - rule

Ultra's in Russia DO NOT mess about, but sadly the 1970s and 80s England fans' reputation (which no longer exists), of enjoying a drunken 'punch-up' must send alarm bells ringing all the way from the FA headquarters to Moscow.

Russian politician Igor Lebedev proposes legalising football hooliganism

Igor Lebedev is a member of the Russian Football Union and a Russian politician but can you believe this jerk, who has proposed legalising football hooliganism and turning it into a sport!

Lededev said...

'Russia would be a pioneer in a new sport. Fans arrive, for example, and start picking fights. And they get the answer - challenge accepted. A meeting in a stadium at a set time.''

If England fans have to contend with potty politicians, corrupt coppers and Ultras wielding knives, firearms and any weapons they can get their mits on then do yourself a favour and stay well clear of Russia.

Alan Green: Why I won't cover the 2018 World Cup

First broadcast on the 5 live Breakfast show on Monday 12 June 2016 the veteran commentator Alan Green says he WILL NOT go to Russia.

Green, who has covered 16 major World and European football tournaments said...

'I sat down with the controller of Five Live a few months ago to discuss a new contract and I think he was taken aback when I said, 'Look, under no circumstances do I want to do the World Cup in Russia in two years' time. Absolutely no question of me going there.

'I've been there enough - the first trip to Moscow was fantastic - Red Square, Lenin's Tomb, St Basil's Cathedral, I did the lot in four days. But I already experienced a climate that I did not wish to venture into again. Unfortunately, I was back twice in six months. Now that's over 20 years ago, and I`ve had experiences since.

'So, as soon as I knew that Fifa had chosen Russia, I think mistakenly, as the venue for the World Cup, I didn't want to have anything to do with it remotely.'

Five Live controller Jonathan Wall said he respected Green's decision and did not try to talk him out of it.

Would you risk life and limb just for the sake of football?
