Former England Manager Returns At Crystal Palace
Well, that all happened rather rapidly didn't it. Crystal Palace said they wanted to replace Alan Pardew quickly and sure enough they've done this as former England manager Sam Allardyce was confirmed the following day!
Crystal Palace parted company with Pardew on Thursday with Allardyce - expected to hold talks with Palace over Christmas - appointed on Friday. If you were a cynic you might think some conversation had already taken place...
Whatever, Allardyce has got the return to club management he wanted following his England exit just 67 days into his dream job with the Three Lions.
Speaking after his appointment Allardyce told cpfc.co.uk he was looking to turn around the Crystal Palace fortunes quickly.
'You generally get a new job because there are difficulties at a club. I have to sort those difficulties out, hopefully with my experience, and try to get a few more results on the board, particularly over Christmas and New Year, to make everybody feel more comfortable.'
He's joined Crystal Palace on a two and a half year contract - I assume Allardyce will last a little longer than two and a bit months at Selhurst Park!
In all seriousness I'm sure he'll do a decent job with the Premier League club as Allardyce's track record in club management - whatever you might think of his style and the man himself - does speak for itself.
