England Handed Biggest Home Nations Fine
I still can't get my head around the problem FIFA had with England - and the other home nations - showing support to Armistice Day to be honest. However, the governing body objected and we now know the fines involved.
The Football Associations of England, Wales and Northern Ireland have all been fined varying amount for their displays of poppies on the kits - in some form - and/or for the tributes made during the November internationals.
It has been confirmed by the BBC England's FA have been hit with a fine of £35,311. Scotland and Wales were each handed a tab for £15,694 whereas Northern Ireland brought up the rear with a punishment of £11,770.
I've no idea how FIFA worked out the amounts decided but they have and these fines are what they are.
I maintain my views that no fine should have been issued for the show of support and recognition towards the brave men and women that have fought for their country. However, these amounts could have been worse than they are and are a small price to pay for this - rightful - defiance.
