U17s - Micciche Pleased With Progress

Head coach of the England U17s Dan Micciche has said he's been delighted with the work rate and attitude of the players in the Nordic Tournament and he's delighted with how the team have resolved to play because he feels it will stand them in very good stead for the future.

Having won one, drawn one and lost one, England are in the third/fourth play off now but he believes that with how they have taken on board the philosophy of how the coaching team want them to play, really does bode well for the future.

Speaking to theFA.com following the final group game against Sweden, he explained.

'I've said it all week, I'm just really proud once again of the players and how they are taking the playing philosophy on board. We totally dominated possession again against Sweden, around the 70% mark. We created a lot of openings, but it is the final ball or the goalkeeper producing some great saves that has denied us - but that can happen. We conceded two 'freak' goals that the players may probably never concede again in their lives.'

Micciche goes on to say that other than the opening spell in the game where they raced into a two goal lead, otherwise we more than limited them to very few chances and not only did we have the more creative players on the pitch, we also led the game and played some fantastic stuff.

'We just need to keep believing in what we are doing and we'll be fine.'
