Second Loss For Women's U19s

Second Loss For Women's U19s

England Women's U19 side lost the second match of the European Championship finals against the Republic of Ireland on Friday.

England took the lead in the first half of the game after 36 minutes as Claudia Walker connected with a Millie Turner delivery to head past their keeper from close range.

That was how the score stayed for the first period, but a good fight back from Eire in the second half resulted in two goals and ultimately victory of the game.

We now have to beat Spain on Monday and then we are relying on the Republic, who have won both opening games so far, to win their final group game against Sweden if we are to have a hope of reaching the knockout stages now, with Eire top with six points, Spain and Sweden tied on three, and England yet to register one.

Republic of Ireland U-19s:

Dunne, Wright, O`Connell, McCarthy, Mustaki (Keenan 69), O`Connor, Dwyer, Connolly, Rowe, Shine (Nolan 75), McCabe.

England U-19s:

Sophie Baggaley, Ashleigh Mills, Molly Bartrip, Vyan Sampson, Rosella Ayane, Maddy Cusack, Millie Turner (Fran Steele 75), Jenna Dear, Sarah Mayling, Claudia Walker, Carla Humphrey (Coral Haines 75).

Referee: Anastasia Pustovoitova (Russia).
