Every English Fans Worst Nightmare

Every English Fans Worst Nightmare

Is a Germany v Argentina every England fans worst nightmare of a world cup final?

A mate of mind said something along those lines of that this week and perhaps, for various reasons I will not need to spell out, they are right...

Who do I 'want to win?'

I honestly do not know, and as someone else said back to me online answering the very question who they wanted I could probably agree with what they said when they said they 'want them both to lose!'

Although we know this is not possible, and someone has to win...

I am not going to roll out the old cliché, 'I hope the best team on the night wins', which I guess just have anyway and could be true but when you look at the world cup as a whole, from a footballing point of view, you would have to say that Germany would be the more worthy winners performance wise, right?

Germany are a decent side, but I still think that they have real vulnerabilities at the back - as most sides in Brazil did - and had they come up against a real top, top class side they would have been done. Their attacking prowess gets them out of jail and the rapid speed at which they can catch you out.

Argentina on the other hand have pretty much clawed their way into the final, so you could argue that they are 'lucky' to be in the final, but to coin a clichéd phrase 'you make your own luck'...

I genuinely do hope it is a cracking final though as all in all this world cup has been really good so it would be nice if we ended with a game fitting of the tournament that we have enjoyed from Brazil.

See how I have pretty much sidestepped the question as to who I want to win...
