Then There Were Four

A world cup reaching its final 4 without England in sight is commonplace, last 16, usually quarter finals has been about our lot since winning it in 1966.

This time we did not even make the knockout stages did we, but hey ho the world cup has carried on and we are now down to the final 4 after Argentina and Holland booked their places on Saturday to make sure that they will do battle next week.

On Friday both Brazil and Germany had booked their meeting with each other.

It is a world cup that I continue to enjoy, despite England going out early - as I keep saying I still think that we showed improvement mind and, also as I keep saying, I am optimistic going forward - but it is also a world cup that I struggle to pick a winner for!

The quarter finals were the best 8 sides left in the tournament, it was no coincidence that the last 8 were all group winners - some had a moment of worry in their 2nd round but the 'so-called' better sides eventually made it through.

In these quarter finals the same happened again, those that are viewed as 'the bigger country' eventually overcame their opponents, be it in extra time or penalties to leave the semi finals with a quality view of Brazil, Germany, Argentina and Holland.

A European team would not be able to win it, these were the thoughts going into the world cup, with it more likely to be a South America county - will it be an all European one, all South American or can the semi final pairings see a final split?

You know what I really do not know, I think that there is very little between the teams but probably based on the tournament as a whole so far Holland would be the best side left for me...

All team have attacked pretty well, as most have in Brazil 2014, but defensively, again as is the case with most at this world cup, none have looked great - arguably Holland, along with Argentina have so far.

I really have no clue who will win, I also do not really know who I want to win either!
