Saying It As It Is

German manager Joachim Low has basically said it 'as it is' with England, but has also not really said anything that we did not already know.

I think we all know that there are too many foreigners playing in the premier league, and this increasing number is holding back the English players from playing sometimes.

We also know that this gives us a 'disadvantage'.

Germany do have some of their squad playing abroad, including in the premier league, but what they do have is 'a good blend' but the majority are playing in their own country.

As I have said before style of play wise I think we have to 'find out own identity' but do think the German model of more home grown players being given the chance in the Bundesliga is certainly something we have to follow.

Chances are, technical ability and maybe even quality wise, we will do well to find players the quality that the likes of Germany have but all the while the more we allow foreign players to come into the premier league the more it will hinder the national side.

Unless I have missed some quotes though the thoughts that Low said 'England will never win anything again' are not something that I could find?

On that score it is looking as though this is something that has been sensationalised...

Moves to tackle the issues he highlights have, in fairness, been looked at more recently with the group exit in the world only likely to intensify this happening - not with the 'league three' idea mind!
