Former England Captain Fixed Up

Former England Captain Fixed Up

Some would still have you think that Rio Ferdinand should have been around the England squad this summer, I think it is right that he was not mind as time moves on.

You can pretty much rest assured that had Harry Redknapp got the England job a couple of years back the 35-year-old would still very much be in his England plans as 'the old guard' are the players that he feels we should have gone with...

Afterall the players from 4-years ago, which included Ferdinand before injury, were much better than this summers one, which was our 'worst squad ever!'

If the likes of Ferdinand are sustainable players for a club of QPR's stature and financial income is highly debatable but if he can stay fit he will prove a good signing for them, as Redknapp would say, 'for sure'.

I have not always been the biggest fan of Ferdinand but watching, and listening, to him at the world cup as a pundit I have found myself warming to him - he certainly knows his stuff though to be fair whatever you think of him.

Like I say he still has something to offer as a player and Redknapp will, if strong rumours are right, be re-united with him again at club level with QPR next season as they are said to have 'agreed a deal' with the defender after he left United.

Also looking likely to join QPR is Steven Caulker who is a player at the other end of his career, and someone looking to get his England career back on track after missing out on the world cup squad.

England's past and present could form a decent pairing?

Lukas Podolski may have stolen the show but it was the first time since before the World Cup tournament in South Africa that I can say I actually enjoyed watching England.
