Nordic Details Announced For U17s

Nordic Details Announced For U17s

Kenny Swain will take charge of England U17s when we kick off our new campaign next month in Denmark at the Nordic Tournament 2014.

The draw for the competition has now been made, and England have been placed in Group B alongside Iceland, Finland and Sweden.

Group A is comprised of Faroe Islands, Norway, USA and Denmark, the host nation.

The youngsters kick off against Iceland on Monday July 28, and will face Finland 24 hours later. The final group B game comes on Thursday July 31 when we face Sweden.

A fourth game will then be scheduled against the Nation from Group A that finished in the same respective position in the other group. This will take place on August 2, and determine the final rankings of the tournament.

With the competition designated U17, Swain takes charge so that he can cast his eye over some players who didn't get a chance, or much of a chance, in last season's U16s fixtures, and again this will be the only time he takes charge at this level, with John Peacock re-taking the role as head coach for the FA International Tournament in late August, and the subsequent European Championship qualifiers.

The full U17 squad travelling will be named in mid July.
