Madrid Interest In England Winger

Madrid Interest In England Winger

England can point to some positives from this summers world cup, positives that I reckon will stand us in good - at least 'better' - stead in the future, with Raheem Sterling one of them.

The Liverpool winger, along with most of the other up and coming younger players, took the impressive form at club level into the world cup this summer with England and even though it might not have been enough to see us win a game, let alone advance to the knockout stages, they still did enough to gain some more admiring glances.

Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana have earned moves to bigger clubs from Southampton, joining United and Liverpool respectively, and although Sterling is already at one of the countries biggest clubs in Liverpool 'reports' are claiming that Real Madrid are looking to tempt him to arguably the biggest club in the world...

Spanish paper AS is said to have claimed that a potential summer move could be made for the 19-year-old, not just based on his world cup but his Liverpool form last season.

Roy Hodgson has encouraged players to 'try their hand' abroad, and perhaps this is what we need some of our more talented players to do, but I would think that at this stage it is probably a little too soon for him and cannot see this happening and would not be sure, at this stage of is career, it would be the best move to make.

In the future, maybe so?

The report did go on to say that perhaps any move could be 'held back' until next summer so he has another season with Liverpool to prove that his club form was not a 'flash in the pan', which I do not think it is at all.

It goes without saying that Liverpool are under no pressure to sell whatsoever but I would like to see Sterling one of those that does try his hand at a foreign club in the future - although I suspect that Liverpool fans would have a completely different view!
