Ox - No Timescales But Confident Of Return

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has reopened the hopes of him being fit for the Uruguay match next Thursday, by talking about how pleased he is with his recovery so far.

Having picked up a knee injury in the friendly against Ecuador ahead of the World Cup campaign opening, Ox has been undergoing extensive treatment and rehabilitation work in order to get hi back fit and in contention as soon as we can.

The hope was that he wouldn't be sidelined for long, maybe only missing for definite yesterday's match against Italy, as no doubt anything too lengthy would've seen him replaced in the squad.

Speaking to theFA.com today though, Ox was talking of a return 'sooner rather than later'.

'It's coming along. Considering when the injury was, I'm really happy - as are the medical team - with how it's progressed. I'm doing some good fitness work. We'll keep pushing it, not too quickly obviously, but I'm really positive about it and so is the medical team.'

Ox adds that as of yet, nobody is putting a return date on him or talking potential timescales as they are still taking it day by day, but the boost is the 'positivity' from everyone.

Given the performance we saw against Ecuador, getting him back fit and using his strengths to compliment what we saw from Henderson, Welbeck, Sterling and Sturridge in particular against Italy would be a big boost as we now look to win our remaining two group games.

After Hodgson who will be the England manager?

The England exit in such a meek manor to Iceland saw Hodgson decide to jump before he was pushed so we now need a new manager. Odds have England U21 manager Southgate as favourite.

Honourable Hodgson - England manager steps down

Lets face it did Roy Hodgson have an option? It was an honourable move by Hodgson though, a move that a number of his predecessors could (and should) have made but didn't.

Three Lions - Slovakia @ Stade de Nice

'Embarrassing.' Quite simply the only word to use...it wasn't embarrassing losing to Iceland as such, what was embarrassing was the England performance in the 2-1 last 16 exit.
