England Preview v Honduras (Miami)

England Preview v Honduras (Miami)

England's final friendly before the world cup starts next weekend takes place tonight with Honduras providing the opposition, once again at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

Roy Hodgson is less likely to experiment quite as much as he did for the game with Ecuador with his starting XI quite possibly likely to be as close to what it will be against Italy as possible with him then, I would think, giving that side a good 45-60-minutes run-out?

Then again he might 'mix it up' again to surprise us all, well me at least!

It is a shame that Raheem Sterling will be suspended as I would have liked to have seen him from the start, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is of course missing with his knee injury with Jack Wilshere and Luke Shaw suffering with cramp on Wednesday.

With Oxlade-Chamberlain a doubt for the world cup, instead of opting to bring either Michael Carrick or Tom Cleverley into the squad as a replacement I would keep James Milner as a midfield option only and bring Jon Flanagan into the 23 if needed - that gives us a genuine fullback as possible right back cover and also gives us someone a little more mobile and effective to play in midfield.

So, with that in mind, I would not be at all surprised to see Flanagan given another run out tonight.

All being well Oxlade-Chamberlain will be passed fit anyway!

Ending our preparations with a win would be nice, and hopefully we can, but the main thing about tonight is that we come through this without any injury problems and can go into the world cup in good shape.
