U19s - Robinson Relishing Burton Return
Having scored three goals in three games for England's U19 side, Callum Robinson has said he can't wait for Monday's game against Scotland because he knows the Pirelli Pitch well.
Speaking to theFA.com ahead of second UEFA Euro U19 Elite Round qualifier, Aston Villa's Robinson explained.
'We play our U21 games at Burton so I'm used to the pitch and the facilities. It's great to be playing a local game with England and hopefully a few people can get out to watch it.'
Robinson says that he already knows he'll have some friends in the crowd, along with his mum and dad, so he's really looking forward to the match, especially as he's on a good run of form as a 'super sub' for us of late.
Robinson has come off the bench in our last three games and found the net on every occasion, including his 30 yard long ranger against Montenegro in our last match, and 19 year old Robinson believes that was by far his best strike yet.
'To score for your country is one of the best feelings ever, no matter what level it is. Obviously to come on and do that in each of the last three games is fantastic. (Montenegro) It's definitely the best goal I've scored in an England short, it was about 30 yards out so it was special.'
With Scotland up next he says he knows now that he just has to keep on impressing manger Noel Blake, and keep taking his chances as they come along and hopefully he can continue to be involved and get more pitch time in the process.
He goes into the Scotland game full of confidence, not just because of his recent goal run, but also because his first ever appearance for England back in the U16s came against Monday's opposition back in the Victory Shield, and describing that night as one he'll 'never forget' he felt he played well on his debut, so he's looking forward to seeing how far he has come since that outing against presumably a reasonably familiar side.
