One Last Hurrah For Howard

One Last Hurrah For Howard

Not too many people think about referees, well at least we try not to unless we are calling them 'this and that' from the stand.

England will be once again represented at the world cup when it comes to officials.

Howard Webb is, unsurprisingly, the English referee for the world cup finals this summer as he embarks on a 'last hurrah', as far as officiating at the world cup goes, as he will be past the 45-year-old cut off point by the time the world cup after Brazil gets here in 2018.

Webb of course was the referee in the last world cup final, dishing out cards aplenty as Spain beat Holland after extra time to win 1-0.

I suppose it is easy to think our refs are useless, but are the rest of the worlds better? Personally I hate reefing and have to confess I am useless at it. That is only at grass roots kids level. I have no chance in the Prem ;-)

England to face the Aussies

This game, if I'm right, is being played at Newcastle's St James' Park and will be the first meeting with Australia since the 3-1 defeat at Upton Park back in 2003.
