Rio Returns
It was said it would not happen, some even believed that it was right that it should not, but an England recall for the upcoming world cup qualifiers has come for Rio Ferdinand.
To be honest I was one of those opposed to his recall but after all this 'fuss', 'controversy' and 'carry on' the Man United man is back.
Ferdinand, to be fair, has been in very good form for United recently so Roy Hodgson has again proven, as he said he would, he selects based on form.
Will this be a long-term thing, with a place at the 2014 world cup - if we make it - something he can still get?
I would say no, but time will tell...

as I wrote in the Squad post, he is probably selected on form and merit. Far better to select someone that we know is good enough and offers some experience, as opposed to someone like Shawcross or Taylor who may or may not be ready or good enough. I am guessing this will inspire Rio and also be a boost for someone like Chris Smalling who I assume will learn far more from a 80ish cap player like Rio than from someone that is still trying to establish himself in the squad

yes been in good form this season but i think the carry on since his recall and ultimately his withdrawal shows it was a wasted recall really...
