Stay in Europe to have an England future

Recently Roy Hodgson backed Frank Lampard to reach the magical 100-cap mark, something Lampard himself is desperate to achieve.

Wednesday saw him move a cap closer when he came off the bench to win cap number 94, and score the winner for us against Brazil!

His performance was branded 'excellent' by Hodgson who again said he felt the 34-year-old 'can reach 100 caps' although where his future lies will play a part...

Hodgson said: 'I hope we'll keep Frank in England. It's not for me to discuss his future with his current club, that's for him and his club. I know he'll have a lot of offers if Chelsea do decide they're prepared to let him go.

'I'm rather hoping we'll still see him, if not in England then Europe which will make my task easier. If he goes further afield and follows David, it complicates matters but it doesn't mean your career is over with England.

'But the further afield you go, the more problematic it gets for the media and the England manager to follow you.'

Lampard seemed destined to part company with Chelsea this summer, many a club in Europe have been linked with him but a long-term admiration has come from America.

I cannot say that the lifestyle in the US would not appeal to me, especially to finish my career although accepting that route would finish his England career.

Perhaps a 1-year deal with a European club up to the summer of 2014 before one last hurrah in the MLS is the way to go - and, according to reports now coming through this could well STILL be with Chelsea after all...

few deserve 100 caps more than Frank, and I genuinely hope that Chelsea see sense and give him another years deal.
