Chelsea teammate to join Cole on 100?

England will see another player reach the landmark 100 caps for their country next week when Ashley Cole, fitness permitting, win his 100th cap against Brazil at Wembley.

There are not too many that achieve such a feat, although Steven Gerrard recently did this and the pair 'could' soon be joined by another stalwart of recent years...

It was thought that Frank Lampard's England career would be drawing to an end after the Euros last summer but the midfielder has remained, pretty much, part of the mix and the indication from Roy Hodgson is that this will remain the case for the foreseeable...

Hodgson has said 'there is no reason' the Chelsea man should not join his Chelsea teammate Cole in winning the remaining caps required to hit the magical 100-cap mark.

Lampard, likely to win another cap at some point against Brazil, needs another 7 to become another Three Lions centurion...

all three players are exceptional in the modern game, however as with so many other sports, appearence and other records are broken far easier because of the number of scheduled games today as opposed to past generations.

true, altho to be fair it can also be argued that players pick up far more injuries these days and therefore potentially miss more international - and their managers LIKE them to miss some too...

we could also consider that with so many foreign players in the Prem the pool of players is less than it once was and therefore players have a greater chance of retaining a place as there are so few options.
