'If It's Football, It's Vital'

View of Hodgson to date

The votes had been cast; these numbers toted up with it decided among the Vital England fraternity that it has been a case of 'same story different boss' as far as it goes with Roy Hodgson so far!

Not a year into his job yet, but with 2012 ending the usual 'reflections' take place and it would appear that (marginally) the impression of Hodgson is not exactly a glowing one...

Personally, whilst England are still a long way away from the level that some may well think we are, I do think that the signs so far are impressive enough and Hodgson is doing a decent enough job and is building a fair enough side for the future.

Maybe the outcome is a little harsh on Hodgson here as is it really the same old same old but with a new boss?

What the poll asked

Are you pleased with Hodgson so far?

How you voted

Nope, same story different boss 60%
Yep, he is building a side 40%

I have always looked to discount the Euros, as he was as such in a hiding to nothing and was probably better simply taking the same(ish) players used previously and accepting his almost inevitable fate. How many other senior managers would have opted to take the job on after the championships and allowed Pearce or whoever to take the job on and start after an inglorious failure where everyone was doom and gloom at how useless we are. I have said all along that we need to judge him up to and after the 2016 euros where hopefully his eye for development over glory will show marked improvement. I believe that Hodgson is a manager who took the job and will work at taking us forward as a footballing nation as opposed to picking the "best players" and building us up to as usual knock us down.
