Shock Zaha call-up

With a few withdrawals the 'shock' championship call-up to come was for Wilfried Zaha.

The Palace youngster, capped by England at U21 level 5 times, has been called-up from the U21 squad to the senior one so Roy Hodgson can take a closer look at the 20-year-old.

Zaha, on Twitter, had this to say about his call-up: 'wow, everything's happening so fast.'

Clearly players dropping out have led to this call-up, but it makes sense to bring someone in from the U21 set-up as opposed to someone else completely, right?

Topflight clubs have been 'attracted' to him and this call-up could increase the attention to him but, for what it is worth from me, I would suggest that staying with Palace until the end of the season - at least - could be his best move.

The way Palace are going he could end up in the premier league next season anyway! Then again it 'could' boil down to money and sometimes you have an offer that is too good to refuse...

It was not just Zaha called-up on Sunday mind!

Carl Jenkinson, who still has not officially had Fifa clearance - this should come sometime today though - has come in with Tom Huddlestone given his first call-up since the summer of 2010...

a great opportunity to see what he has to offer and also give him a taste of what is to come is he selects England as his international side over Ivory coast. I know his playing wont make this decision final, but it gives him a feel of the team and a chance to speak with the manager and players to feel a part of the set up.
