'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'Putting their foot down'

Apparently the FA 'put their foot down' to make sure that the world cup qualifier with Poland, farcically called off on Tuesday night in the end, would now take place this afternoon.

Following the postponement, with England having a 'full programme' for the next year, club England managing director Adrian Bevington made it clear that today was the best day for this game to go ahead: 'we wanted to play the game on Wednesday.

'Our fixture programme is full for the next 12 months. We're already here and our flight can be put back 24 hours.'

'Fifa regulations stipulate' that a rearrangement should take place within 24-hours wherever possible, with this rule enforced after the Polish FA were reluctant to do this.

Yesterday, perhaps his view is different today, Roy Hodgson told ITV that he was unsure if the pitch would be ready for use today: 'the pitch is in very poor condition.

'Water is lying on the surface. It's going to need a lot of attention if it's going to be playable tomorrow afternoon.'

Quite why the roof was not shut still baffles me, why have it if you will not use it?

It is all very well rearranging the game for today but little thought, consideration, care or respect has been given to the thousands of fans who have shelled out hundreds to be at this game, many of whom will now return home with nothing but a 'jolly boys outing' and 'a drenching', perhaps a cold when they return, to show for this!

Now we just wait to see if this pitch can/will be playable today?

If not a new date will need to be found as it is almost 100% certain that neither party will agree to this being played on Thursday...
