Lampard and Bertrand out
England have lost both Frank Lampard, who almost certainly would have been named captain, and Ryan Bertrand for the game against San Marino tonight.
Lampard was always a bit of doubt going into this game with his 'slight tear' of his calf ruling him out, the Chelsea man will be reassessed at the weekend to see if he can return to the squad for the game with Poland next week.
His Chelsea teammate Bertrand has been laid low with illness, so joins him in missing out but it is more likely he will be fit to rejoin the squad.
Given the recent 'code of conduct' talk coming in Bertrand launched an ill-advised Twitter rant about the FA statement about his withdrawal, taking exception to their reporting of a 'sore throat' ruling him out, which he has since apologised for...
With all due respect to San Marino I would not think that these two missing will cause us too many problems!
