Forster called-up, Shawcross and Lennon recalled

The England squad for the world cup qualifiers with San Marino and Poland has been named with a couple recalled, and a newbie called-up for the first time.

Celtic keeper Fraser Forster has received his first call-up, coming after plenty of endorsement for this to be the case.

That 'map to Stoke' that it was said Roy Hodgson needed has been found with Ryan Shawcross recalled having been named in the squad to face Egypt in 2010, but as yet the Stoke captain has not managed to win a cap.

After a 2-year absence from the national squad Spurs' Aaron Lennon is also recalled.

Injury saw both Wayne Rooney and Andy Carroll miss out last time but they are also back.

Squad, in full, to play San Marino (h) on Friday 12 October and Poland (a) on Tuesday 16 October.

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Celtic), Joe Hart (Manchester City), John Ruddy (Norwich)
Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), Ryan Shawcross (Stoke), Kyle Walker (Tottenham)
Midfielders: Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Adam Johnson (Sunderland), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Theo Walcott (Arsenal)
Forwards: Andy Carroll (West Ham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United)

I think that droppiong Butland back to the U21s and playing him is sensible for his development, and on form and match fitness, Shawcross is a sensible choice. Even as a spurs fan I am a little surprised at the recall of Lennon. not so much re form or ability, but as a squad, we seem quite full of wide quick wingers, (walcott, Johnson, Ox, + milner who might not be quick, but is quality wide or central)
