'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cashing in?

There was a time when Mark Noble was a player that many would have though would have secured international caps with England at senior level.

So far this has not been the case for the former U21, but he still has aspirations of this happening...

Doing so would make his father 'proud', with him following him everywhere to watch him, so - as you would expect from pretty much any player - it is his 'aim' to break into the England squad.

The midfielder feels he is capable of this and is also in good enough form to manage this too: 'that's my aim, still, I'm still only 25.

'There's a lot of late additions to the England squad.

'The form that I've been in lately, I'm still hoping to get into that squad. If I carry on playing the way I am, hopefully it'll happen sooner rather than later.'

25 is definitely not too old for him to make the breakthrough but I would have to say, surely, that if any West Ham midfielder is going to break into the squad it is a man that has, for whatever reason, never managed to do this so far, Kevin Nolan...

Should Noble manage to get a call-up an old friend of his will 'cash in' having place a bet some years back that he would one day go onto represent England.

This is something that has previously happened with Chris Kirkland, when his old man collected a payout having put on a similar bet and more recently with Man United's Ryan Tunnicliffe, his old man scooped £10,000 for a bet he placed when his son was 9-years-old that he would one day represent United!

How much was bet, how much would be won, where this friend is and what he is doing is not known by the West Ham man but nevertheless Noble still hopes he can pull this one off for him down the line.

Under Roy Hodgson Noble does have a chance, as other 'less familiar' faces have, and will continue, to be looked at under his management of The Three Lions so it is not beyond possibility this will happen, but like I say I would think others are further ahead of him at this juncture...

he and Nolan looked in total control of the midfield when I occasionally watched West Ham last season, but from what I have even seen of him in the Prem, I'm yet to be convinced that he has that little extra to stand above his rivals, especially if Wilshere returns to his full fitness as all England fans should hope, regardles of their club colours. add Cleverley and a few other very promising younger players, I wonder if even at 25 he will be a player to just miss out
