Bye bye Umbro

England's long association with Umbro, which has virtually last for around half a century, is to come to an end with Nike to become the new kit manufacturer...

Apart from Admiral doing the kits from 1974-82, ending after a dismal showing in the 1982 world cup finals, Umbro have been supplying England with kit since the 1950's.

It all comes down to money doesn't it, the FA can cash-in by looking elsewhere and unfortunately Umbro, with such a history with the national side, will be paying the ultimate price with Nike becoming the first overseas manufacturer of the England kit ever.

The existing deal with Umbro is meant to run until 2018 but it is said that Nike could start rolling out a new kit as early as next Spring with them launching the new away strip?

Nike brought Umbro in 2007 but intend to sell the company and with a number of club sides, and now the nation side, moving away from Umbro as their kit supplier with the likes of Nike and Adidas market leaders the future of the famous manufacturer is in real doubt, even more so having lost this £20m a year deal with The Three Lions...
