'If It's Football, It's Vital'

England will now benefit

The move from Man City to Sunderland, completed on Friday, of Adam Johnson will quite clearly see his new club side benefit but the benefits to England will almost certainly be felt too!

Johnson is a cracking footballer but with a wealth of world-class talent available at City the wingers chances of the regular football that he needed continued to diminish.

In all honesty I am surprised that a move away from City has been able to take place so quickly and easily but now that it has England could start to see the very best of the 25-year-old who made a fine start to his Three Lions career, but this has stuttered in recent times with him amazing just 12 caps, when a player of his ability really should have earned more.

I am sure that Johnson will not regret choosing City over Sunderland in 2010 when he did, and why should he has he has banked a shed-load of cash, gained champions league experiences, won an FA cup and of course and also picked up a title winners medal, but now he has the chance to kick-start his career again.

Regular 1st team football with Sunderland, as will almost certainly be the case, will make the likelihood of him regularly being selected in the England squad almost nailed on - of course this will only be the case if he is producing the good for his club mind!

Once in the England squad, again if playing at his best, a place in the starting line-up becomes increasing likely too...

on the face of it, you would assume we will benefit in having Johnson playing more often, but do we underestimate the benefit of having him play and train with the likes of Silva, Tevez, Aguero etc every day?
