Reflecting on Italy win

If only England could have done what they did last night against Italy a few weeks, or so, back then our Euro 2012 campaign might have ended differently?

That said both the England, and Italy; line-ups were much different from that game at the Euros...

As was said before the game quite how much we could read into this game, what the result would be etc., was open for debate although the main thing we would have hoped for would have been learning something new about those that were involved.

Roy Hodgson, as he told ITV, thought that was exactly the case: 'it gave us a chance to see so many new players - it might have been different if we'd had to use the same players we'd used through the Euros.

'It was great to give the senior players a rest and blood so many new players, or players who didn't get the chance before, and I thought they answered the challenge in the best possible way.'

The personnel might have been different but Hodgson does not think that too much in the way he sets out to play, and wants his side to play, was different but that 'composure on the ball', all too often lacking at the Euros was there: 'there was not a lot different from what we were trying to do in the Euros, but maybe tonight we showed a little bit more composure on the ball and managed to pass it a bit better.'

Something for Roy to build on?

Well lets hope so eh...
