'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Livermore will benefit

The squad named by Roy Hodgson for this weeks friendly with Italy was always likely to be something of an 'experimental' one for a number of reasons.

Lets face it, it is time for new younger, fresher and hungrier players to be looked at with England - every batch of players eventually runs its cycle and most of the seniors have now done this, although the actual timing of this friendly was always likely to make it more likely that a number of youngsters would be included.

That said there is some 'experience' within this squad too to be fair...

One of the youngsters to be given a chance is Spurs' Jake Livermore, who is included for the first time after talking with the Spurs coaching staff and looking at how he played last season: 'Jake did well at Tottenham last year. I had a long chat with Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood about him.

'They are impressed so it was a good chance to have a look for myself.

'A couple of players dropped out so Jake has been promoted up from the reserve list.'

To be honest I have not really seem much of the guy but he was well talked up last season - mentioned as a future England international by Harry Redknapp - with him somewhat unfortunate, by all accounts, not to have played more games than he did?

As the saying goes 'if he's good enough he's old enough' and one thing that will definitely benefit Livermore, Spurs and England is his inclusion this time as the experience will do everyone a lot of good.

Will the Spurs man be involved again this season?

Well, that depends on how much he plays for Spurs and how well he performs if he does but if he does not get involved too much for England again this season the chances are that he will in the years ahead...

To be honest, he probably isnt at this level yet, but he certainly has potential. he is a battling, tackling run all day CM, which if that is what you are looking for, he is a very good selection, but is also technically decent and has a very strong and good character
