'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Are you embracing Olympic football?

In the months, years even, in the lead up to the 2012 Olympics (which I must say I am VERY MUCH enjoying) much was made of 'Team GB' entering a team in the football.

The rights or wrongs of this were debated long and hard, but fact of the matter is this is taking place if it is liked or not...

For sometime, as far as the men's team goes anyway, many thought that it would be pretty much English dominated - and whilst the squad is stacked that way it is the impact of the Welsh, from what I have read, that is making the most difference.

I cannot lie; I have paid little to no attention to the football but must admit I very much enjoyed watching the highlights of the GB women's game with Brazil in a game that they won the other night.

Many would argue that football, forgetting a GB team, does not even belong in the Olympics but this has been in the games for a number of years now, so the question is how much are you embracing football at the Olympics?

Like I say I have not taken much notice, if truth be told, in many ways I have taken something of a backseat from football since the Euros but with the season returning this interest is increasing somewhat and I dare say that the further the men and women go, with both into the ¼ finals with a semi final place very much possible, the more interest I suspect I will show as I am always keen on seeing Britain win medals no matter what the sport so I guess I cannot make football an exception!

Have to say Im pleasantly surprised how well the side have gelled. I don't think we are good enough to get a medal, perhaps because we have to beat Brazil and win the 3rd place play off, but we are definitely getting better. If we consider the players that could have been eligible if fit, released or not have played in the Euros, we could have had a side to compete with the best and who knows. Add Oxlade Chamberlain., Bale, Walker, Jones, Smalling, Wilshere, Welbeck etc and we have a very decent bunch of players
