Sorry for the delay in adding this, I have not had much free time at all in the past few weeks or so...

Once again I think we can safely say that, as was the case following the world cup in South Africa in 2010, Steven Gerrard was most definitely one of the England players that was able to walk away from the Euro 2012 campaign with his head held high.

To be fair, whilst we were short of actually quality as such, a number of players did 'ok' for England at the Euros but the pick of the bunch was almost certainly the Liverpool man...

He had nowhere near as much of an impact on the side against Italy in our quarter final exit (but then again who did?) but even so he was the standout performer in most other games.

This showing by the England captain has seen him selected as part of the Euro 2012 23-man squad players of the tournament squad, which is below...

Goalkeepers: Buffon (Ita), Casillas (Spa), Neuer (Ger).

Defenders: Pique (Spa), Coentrao (Por), Lahm (Ger), Pepe (Por), Ramos (Spa), Alba (Spa).

Midfielders: De Rossi (Ita), Gerrard (Eng), Xavi (Spa), Iniesta (Spa), Khedira (Ger), Busquets (Spa), Ozil (Ger), Pirlo (Ita), Xabi Alonso (Spa).

Forwards: Balotelli (Ita), Fabregas (Spa), Ronaldo (Por), Ibrahimovic (Swe), Silva (Spa).

The player of the tournament itself was selected as Andres Iniesta, who did have a fine tournament but I think I would have gone for Andrea Pirlo personally.

Would you agree with Gerrard's inclusion, and that 23-man squad as a whole?
