Roy Hodgson: Good, bad or undecided?

The votes have been cast, these numbers toted up with it fairly unanimous among the Vital England fraternity that Roy Hodgson is a 'good choice' as England manager...

Hodgson's appointment, whilst not to everyone's liking, has kind of revitalised my interest in England somewhat and I look forward to seeing what he can do - can he 'tame' the pampered playboys involved in the set-up though?

The nations media usual hype things up and then when it all goes belly up love nothing more than sticking the knife in - The Sun, far from my favourite paper at the best of times, probably did him a favour shortly after his appointment as the insensitive digs at him have probably seen him gain further support.

Yep we all like a joke but splashing senseless, not forgetting needless, trash on the front pages of a paper was ill-advised (especially given The Sun's well documented problems) and as someone who does have something of a bit of a speech abnormality themselves, due to being born with a condition known as a cleft lip and palate, I must say I felt for Hodgson - but then again I am sure that he is more than used to it eh and has thick skin by now!

I am looking forward to Euro 2012 and whilst my expectations for England are 'pretty low' - and maybe this is not a bad thing for a change, as a less expectancy being placed upon the national side 'might' actually reap dividends, then again probably not! - I am sure that I will get as disappointed as ever when England do eventually crash out, be that in spectacular drab fashion in the group stages or in the knockout stages via penalties no doubt...

Whatever I think Hodgson needs to be given a chance and based upon other, realistic alternatives, can too many really say they think he is a bad choice?

Only 29% feel just that, and even among that amount 10% were undecided!

He will, as I hope he will be, judged on what he manages his side to do on the field - I hope for us to have a good Euro 2012 but part of me thinks the years that follow this will be the better ones for him, us and England as he rebuilds the side to take us onto better things.

But hey lets not 'write-off' this summer eh...
