'If It's Football, It's Vital'

England - Harshly treated?

The international career of Peter Crouch appears to be coming to an end, well under Fabio Capello anyway...

Making a 'rash decision' over his international future is not something that Crouch wants to do and actually retiring from Three Lions duty is not something I think he will do?

The Spurs man thinks he has been 'cruelly treated' by Capello although knows that the Italian is not one for 'putting an arm around a player' or 'explaining his decision' so its not anything personal against him as such.

Whilst I do not think he will call time on his international career, talking in The Sun, he makes it pretty clear that he thinks his days are numbered under Capello's reign: 'it's not for me to tell Fabio Capello how to manage. He's had a tremendous amount of success working his way.

'It's pretty obvious the manager has made his decision and if I'm not his cup of tea, that's something I just have to live with.

'It doesn't look great for me. If I couldn't get into this squad I might struggle when Wayne Rooney, Jermain Defoe and Andy Carroll are back.

'But I do feel I've been slightly unfairly treated because I've done well for England when given the opportunities.'

22 goals in 42 internationals is a good return in anybodies book and for him not to even make the bench last weekend was a real surprise, to say the least.

With so many other options out it does pretty much tell you all you need to know about what the manager thinks of you really...

The Spurs man is very much a 'marmite player' as you either love him or hate him!

I have always been a fan of the big mans and think that there is much more to him than people think and he is often given an injustice to the quality that he does posses.

The treatment given to him, and others, by Capello seems to have been wrong and his alienating of people seems to be causing more harm than good, next summer cannot come soon enough for me as we can then bring in someone new - lets hope the FA make a better decision next time round and if they can see things starting to go belly up they do not make the ridiculous decision to hand the manager a new lucrative contract before he really proves anything!

problem for Crouch is that he doesnt look or move like a footballer, so all to often his ability is vastly under-rated, especially at international football where several of his limitations are covered, but his goal record speaks for itself.

Not my favourite player, but he has done enough to deserve a run in the side by now. Darren Bent may have better qualities as a scorer at club level and himself would feel he is worthy of a place, but if Capello wants to pump balls forward as he did against Switzerland, Crouch would be a better option

Goals are what he should be judged on and his in an England shirt compares to most!!

Never International quality.

you see, i disagree Tiny. i quite often say that crouchy's gangly and ungamely nature often works against him - he is as good as most other options england has. now you can argue is this a good or bad thing...

the fact that we havent got a better (proven) striker atm, is the real problem isnt it. Crouch is a player that due to his physicality, will always look ungainly and not in conreol of a football, but foe some reasonm he looks a far better international player than he does in the Prem. for that I put if doen the the difference in pace between the English and continental games and Crouch has more time and space and though he isnt a physical player, his height seems something that international or euro defenders cant cope with. If you watched his against AC Milan for Spurs in the Sann Siro, he was unplayable in the first half and they simply couldnt cope with him.
