'If It's Football, It's Vital'
Premier league controlling England? No thanks!
In the wake of England's world cup exit I noticed that Wigan chairman Dave Whelan was again 'banging that drum' that the national game needs to be controlled by the premier league, with them taking over from the FA due to the FA's inadequacies...
Granted the FA has made one fau'par after another in recent years but I feel that handing complete power over to the premier league would be disastrous for English football!
Whilst I think it is perhaps too much to say that the premier league is entirely to blame for England's demise, this had not around for many of the years between 1966 and the modern day, until the early 1990s was it - so on the whole the national team just has not been 'good enough'.
Although for the past 18-years or so the premier league has been there and with it the influx of foreign talent and the increase in riches, thus decrease in appreciation for what you have and what the game means, especially the respect of what it means to play for your country, has increased.
The premier league is interested; first add foremost in money, secondly increasing the 'global brand', thus making even more money! None of this is done with the national game in mind!
To all intent and purpose the premier league is virtually running the English game anyway, if this becomes 'official' we might as well put that final nail in the English coffin now!
If we felt we had seen 'passionless', 'careless', 'commitment less' etc. etc. players this summer, just think what it would be like under the premier league ruler ship, when it literally would ONLY be a 4 clubs supplying players - the top 4 clubs, the small minority of players coming into the England set-up that do carry that passion and desire to play for the country due to their pride would diminish even less.
Thanks but no thanks.
The gutless, spineless and often useless FA is something that I would prefer us to stick with as opposed to handing the reigns over to the monster that is the premier league, that same monster that continues to destroy English football...

Players selected only from the biggest clubs in the country (even if they didn't deserve it) would be all we saw if this happened. It's a no from me too.
