Japan join Holland in round 2

To be honest, whilst I felt Holland were always 'likely' to go through as group E winners - not that this world cup has always gone 'according to plan' - the thing that was, for me, always most likely to be the major talking point was 'who would join then?'

In all honesty I had thought that Denmark would do this, especially after seeing Japan's opener against Cameroon - even though they won 1-0.

That said Japan improved against Holland, despite losing, then again Denmark looked 'lively' against Cameroon when they picked up a 2-1 win.

Holland beat Cameroon to retain an unbeaten status, in fact collect 3 wins from 3; it was left down to Japan and Denmark to battle it out for the runners-up spot.

And it was Japan, who were top class, that managed to do this with a 3-1 win.

I tell you what they will give Paraguay a run for their money and the first time that they have managed to reach the 2nd round, outside of their own country, might not be the end of the line for them either as a quarter final place is more than possible I reckon...

Japan played really well against Denmark so they deserved to go through.
