England - world cup squad - left back
'The left back in England's 23-man world cup squad should be Ashley Cole', not my vote, yours - although these findings from Rug's poll are thoughts that I more than agree with to be honest...
Cole has, and most likely will be for some time yet, been England's first choice left back - so, for this to be what we feel will be the case in South Africa is no surprise whatsoever.
He is head and shoulders above the rest of them, although I feel that Kieran Gibbs 'could' soon start challenging him so long as he can get regular 1st team football with Arsenal...
Who is the other left back that will go with him though?
Well, this is something we will look at adding to the squad further down the line.
Selecting the starting members of this squad, so picking 11 from the 23 is what we are doing first; the other 12 will be selected from various options at another time, so keep an eye on Vital England...
So, we now know how those on Vital England would make up the 23-man squad, we also know that David James would be the no.1 and Ashley Cole the left back:
The next task on Vital England will be to select the first choice central defender. Again, we will then look at a back ups and other positions as we compile this squad so, again, keep a look out!

not at the moment there isnt, but in a year or so i think kieran gibbs will be banging on that door!
