Rugby League Stars Back The Bid

Carnegie Challenge Cup finalists put their support behind England 2018 Bid ahead of Wembley final.

They may be preparing to go head to head for the Carnegie Challenge Cup this weekend but star names from the Huddersfield Giants and Warrington Wolves have united behind England's Bid to host the 2018 World Cup ahead of their Wembley showdown.

Huddersfield's longest serving player Eorl Crabtree and Stand-Off Kevin Brown as well as Warrington captain Adrian Morley and fans' favourite Ben Westwood switched their oval ball for a round one to show their backing for the campaign - and in doing so became the latest names to back England 2018 ahead of their Wembley clash.

The players posed with the official England 2018 'Back the Bid' scarves as well as signing up their support at www.england2018bid.com - following in the footsteps of other famous sportsman including Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Frankie Detorri and Ashes heroes James Anderson, Ian Bell and Paul Collingwood.

Huddersfield Giants' Eorl Crabtree, said:
"The opportunity for our players and fans to experience the spectacle of a game such as the Carnegie Challenge Cup final at Wembley is incredibly exciting and something everyone connected to the club is looking forward to."

"With Wembley being synonymous with English football, the entire squad is also proud to be getting behind the England 2018 Bid. The chance to host a tournament such as the football World Cup in this country would be amazing and the entire nation, be them football or rugby league fans, should join us is backing the bid."

Warrington Wolves' Adrian Morley, commented:
"I've been fortunate enough to have played top class Rugby League in a number of amazing stadiums around the world but the prospect of playing at Wembley is something I'm really looking excited about.

"The stadium is renowned around the world and would be an amazing venue for a football World Cup final in 2018. This country lives for its sport and the entire nation would feel the buzz of excitement created by hosting such a prestigious tournament - that's why I am proud to back the England 2018 Bid."

The more high profile stars, both football and showbizz, that back this bid, then the more chance we have of hosting this event. It's about time the World game came home again.
